Ask me anything
Forgot to post this before the show! John was a very sweet and intelligent man; we really enjoyed his interview at Highland Road Coffees. He went a little more personal than most.
We had an amazing time at the show Saturday. The crowd was spectacular—y’all made all of the struggles worthwhile and reminded us of the root of why we make music (love and expression).
Besides the wonderful audience, we have SO MANY people to thank for putting this together, including those who helped advertise it. Alex Cook for 225, John Wirt for the Advocate and Christie Matherne for DIG all sat down with us and showed not only support, but also genuine interest. It was encouraging and made our parents proud.
Above all, we are indebted to John Kaufman for allowing us to be the first local band to perform in the main theatre. He took a risk, and thank goodness, you guys came out and proved that music can thrive at home too.
We are so proud to have played with Dave Hinson of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and are thankful for his help in constructing a strings landscape both live and in recording. We’ve been thoroughly inspired by his love for music and his creative encouragement towards young artists.
We met many new friends and musicians who collaborated with us—John Tulley (and old friend!), Grace and Logan on violins, Ian McAdams on violin, Monique McCain of The Heaters singing, Haley Gauthier singing, Kelly Furr singing and Julia Walen singing. They brought the beauty and creepy up many notches.
Our two other acts—Ashley Toman on harp and Shannon Tyndall and Anna Parker through dance honored us with their beautiful music and muscle movements.
John Wygle put together some brilliant reel projections for the show; we all know how deeply the scene with the trachea affected us. We love him and want to squeeze him.
Mike Pinter worked INCREDIBLY hard the entire day to mix and monitor every instrument and voice, and he is damn good at his job. We’ll have a wonderful live recording because of his ambition.
Tommy Talley and his crew have shot gorgeous footage of the entire show; we can’t wait to release it. They also worked long hours to catch every detail—we couldn’t be more enamored.
Last but not least, we want to thank Emily Ryon for playing classical guitar on “Unravel”, the Bjork cover. She was the best part of the show.
We are so grateful for the massive amount of work it took to make this train move. Thank you to all who supported us by attending and buying shirts. We love you.
We’ll be posting audio, video and photography soon; please look for this and also our next show date ;)!
